By Ruth Ann Krause. A Munster man has been charged with having sex with an underage girl at a Munster church facility. Javyon Mykel George-Boatman, 22, was charged in Lake Superior Court with three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor involving a year-old girl who told investigators he had sex with her numerous times at the Family Christian Center, the probable cause affidavit states.
Two of the charges are punishable by two to 12 years in prison, and the third count is punishable by one to six years. On April 9, which was Palm Sunday, the girl said George-Boatman, who was a volunteer youth leader, grabbed her cellphone and ran into a room that was under construction, records said. The girl told him she was only 14, and he told her it was OK because neither of them was going to tell anyone, court documents said.
On April 12, George-Boatman and the girl kissed in a closet under the stairs near a back door and he fondled her, records said. George-Boatman had asked to have sex April 15, the Saturday before Easter, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The girl and George-Boatman had sex April 23 and continued having sex at least 10 times through June 7, records said. The sexual encounters occurred in different rooms at the church, including a storage room and costume room, records said. Ruth Ann Krause is a freelance reporter for the Post-Tribune.
