The four finished firstdespite an aggressive closing sprint by Greece and Belarus. The British put in a fearless effort that placed them in the lead for the first halfof the race, but they were still relegated to second by the Germans at the end. The Belgrade regatta also doubled as the final Paralympic Qualification Regatta with the top two finishers in each ofthe four Paralympic events earning berths for London.
This regatta soon became known as the one where new speed records were made. The racing intensity did not disappoint. Great Britain remained at the head of the overall points tally following Lucerne, while China proved to be the biggestimprover with three gold medals.
