The report on the situation in Guinea, of the International Commission of Inquiry COI which investigated the 28 September government forces crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators in Guinea, is before the Council.

The junta said about 57 people were killed and gave contradictory accounts of events, indicating on the one hand that the security forces present were too few to have been able to carry out the atrocities and on the other hand, blamed the opposition political leaders for provoking the army to react.
