Video taken by Desiree Salter shows one passenger pouring out the oil from a small bottle on the jet bridge and signing the cross on the outside of the plane before stepping inside. A second video uploaded by Salter shows her walking up the jet bridge for her return flight to Orlando, shaking the bottle of oil. Once again, the woman dumps some of the oil onto her hand before laying her entire hand on the exterior of the plane with her head bowed and giving it a gentle pat.
The videos, posted to TikTok, have gone viral, racking up more than six million views. Many users hopped in the comments to express their support. Salter shared that she got the oil from her stepfather, who is a pastor, at their local church. Always keeping it on hand in her purse, Salter said she happened to have it while going on her trip to Punta Cana.
The viral video comes after weeks of several aviation incidents, including the midair collision between a Black Hawk Army helicopter and an American Airlines flight in Washington D. Just last week, a Delta Airlines flight landing in Toronto overturned.
