Romance is officially dead according to a new 5Star documentary that has investigated the dating habits of young people today. On Swipe Right For Sex, presenter Maya Jama investigates the rise of the 'half night stand' and discovers millennials aren't interested in getting to know someone before they jump into bed with them, and won't bother staying the night once the deed is done. Among the young people Maya spoke to were two British women, only identified as Frankie and Jenna, who said they are fans of the 'half night stand' and prefer to love 'em and leave 'em when it comes to hooking up with men.
Porn star Carly Rae, who appears on Swipe Right For Sex on 5Star, says that as a teen she would use dating app Tinder for casual sex, often having half night stands Pictured right, with presenter Maya Jama.
Frankie said she used Tinder to have casual sex as it is 'so easy' to find a partner. They said apps like Tinder have made it so easy to find someone to have casual sex with and they no longer think being intimate with another person is a big deal. She added that sex has become so meaningless to her, she sees french kissing as a much more intimate act.
Asked how it works when she meets up with men to have sex, she said: 'It's not quite as blunt as "bend over and get your fanny out" but basically, yeah. Romance is dead: Hooking up has never been so easy but Tinder users featured in the show say apps have made sex 'meaningless'.
Meanwhile another young man, Mike Jordan, revealed to Maya that you don't even need to use words to organise a sexual encounter, as simply sending an emoji will do. He added that he's had 'a few half night stands' and he would never consider those women he'd had sex with as girlfriend material. Tom, 18, from Surrey, told Maya he is also a fan of the half night stand and said he and his friends use Tinder 'all day every day' to meet women to have sex with.
