Introduction Anxiety disorders are the most common group of psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents[1]. They usually remain undiagnosed in children and adolescents owing to the internalized nature of its symptoms [2]. Anxiety disorders are associated with considerable developmental, psychosocial, and psychopathological complications.
They impair emotional, cognitive, physical and behavioral functioning in multiple areas and are usually chronic in nature. They can increase the risk of multiple comorbid psychiatric disorders[ 3]. Pediatric anxiety disorders predict adult anxiety disorders and depression; and other childhood sequelae, such as substance use problems, suicide attempts, and hospitalization[3, 4, 5]. Therefore, it is important to identify and treat pediatric anxiety disorder to reduce the long-term consequences.
