Her passion is youth ministry, she says. If you think you found college to be a challenge, Brieana Jones wants you to take inspiration from her life. The year-old Moreno Valley resident, who graduated from Life Pacific College in San Dimas on May 7, has cerebral palsy and has been physically challenged since birth. Sitting in her wheelchair, she uses a reflector under one eye to type using head movements and a light-sensitive keypad that connects to her computer and a voice modulator that speaks for her.
Unable to turn pages in a book or hold a pencil, she gets help from friends and family who scan books into the computer, take notes at lectures and drive her to and from classes.
The professors were also giving me more time. Moreno Valley resident Francisco Vazquez, who has been helping Jones for about two years with typing and researching projects, said she can be inspirational. College life has provided many opportunities for her beyond the classroom, taking her to Africa, Israel and London for missionary work and giving her contacts to help build her own ministry.
