Circuit Judge Laura Shearon Cruz handed down the ruling on Thursday after prosecutors reported that Clenney could be a flight risk due to the millions she made last year on the webcam-based U. K website. In addition to that, the judge noted that Clenney has a history of violating protective orders.
Clenney is facing a second-degree murder with a deadly weapon charge for the stabbing death of her boyfriend Christian Obumseli in their luxury Miami apartment in April. Authorities say Clenney called them stating that she was the victim of domestic abuse and that she was forced to throw a knife at Obumseli in self-defense during a heated argument. Obumseli was taken to a hospital where he died due to the injury.
Clenney was taken into police custody after being re-interviewed about the incident. Prosecutors, however, presented evidence including videos showing Clenney being aggressive towards Obumseli in other situations leading up to the murder.
At least one of the incidents landed Clenney in jail for domestic assault. Text messages also revealed that Clenney may be stabbed Obumseli on two other occasions. She is accused of murdering her boyfriend Christian Obumseli last April, in Miami.
