NOAF is looking for highly motivated and passionate individuals interested in clinic escorting in the Greater New Orleans area. As a small, non-profit organization, we rely on committed community members to provide escorting services so that the clinic is easily accessible to clinic patients, their companions, and clinic staff. The Clinic Escort defends access to our local clinics in the form of non-violent, non-engagement escorting services to clinic patients, their companions, and clinic staff, and aims to keep the clinic location as calm as possible.
The Clinic Escort helps keep the clinics open and functioning at the request of the providers. A shift is an average of three hours, and is always outdoors, so understand that there may be inclement weather or temperature extremes. Clinic Escorts should be able to walk with patients to the clinic. Volunteers agree not to act in a confrontational manner or to engage in physical or verbal attacks against anyone present.
Volunteers agree to respect the confidentiality of physicians, clinic staff, patients, companions, and fellow volunteers. Escorts must abide by these policies at all times. As a volunteer, NOAF will provide you with training and educational opportunities, a supportive network of staff and fellow escorts, training and networking opportunities within reproductive health, rights, and justice fields, as well as an opportunity to serve your community. Volunteering is a great resume-builder and a way to learn new skills!
This position requires the following skills: The Clinic Escort unconditionally affirms a woman's right to choose whether, when, and how to become a parent, and possesses knowledge of the dynamics of comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including abortion, and is dedicated to protecting these rights.
