Conversations with Soraya and Sediqqua suggest that the Taliban are deliberately treating members of the diaspora more leniently in an effort to boost their legitimacy. By doing so, they turn visitors into unwitting propaganda tools, reinforcing the narrative that Afghanistan is better off under their rule.
