ABC News. Advertisements in a Hobart newspaper for unprotected sex services have been referred to police, Tasmania's Health Minister Michael Ferguson says. Two ads promoting "natural" services currently running in The Mercury's adult services section have sparked concern about the spread of sexually transmitted infections STIs in the community.
Women Speak Tasmania spokeswoman Bronwyn Williams said "natural" was code for oral, vaginal or anal sex without a condom or other protective device. Ms Williams said sex workers were often pressured to provide unprotected sex, despite it being illegal. She said the group had written to the State Government expressing its concern. Mr Ferguson said he had referred the matter to Tasmania Police.
