A pet store owner in New Jersey became the victim of a grisly crime after she was shot in the face with a crossbow β now authorities are on the hunt to find her assailant.
Shortly before 6pm on Monday, Saddle Brook Police responded to a call of a woman who had been seriously injured at her business, Birds by Joe 2.
The woman, identified as Katarina by another location, was taken to hospital, is currently in stable condition and expected to survive the attack.
Birds by Joe said in a Facebook post: 'Birds by Joe 2 is temporarily closed Katarina is recovering and investigations are underway. Will update soon. SBPD said they are investigating the attempted homicide after the suspect fled following the shooting.
According to a Facebook post , the pet store is expected be closed until Friday. Security footage showed the moment a man sprinted off with the bird in a carrier as Katarina Rukavishnikova ran after him. Rukavishnikova told the New York Post : 'This guy came in and started asking all the right questions. I thought, "Okay, he's going to buy the bird.
