Gwynn said the shaky housing market and other economic factors led to lots of girls who grew up thinking their college educations would be paid for, only to find out that their families could no longer afford it. Eleven of the top 20 schools on the list are located in metropolitan areas.
Because sugar daddies are more likely to be found in metropolitan areas, students at schools in places like Orlando, Tampa and Miami stand a better chance of meeting sugar daddies, Gwynn said. Of course, it helps that women can register for free using their college e-mail accounts. The annual list is based on the number of new registrants from each college account.
Critics of the site argue that these pay-for-companionship arrangements are nothing more than a thinly-veiled guise for prostitution. She added that the site goes "to great lengths to prevent" abuse of the system.
