Edwina first made ripples in the sport six years ago. The Australian born jockey, now based in the Netherlands with her husband Jan Tops, was propelled into international acknowledgement in Aachen when she finished 4th place in the World Championships on her beautiful bay mare Pialotta.
Since then, we have become rather familiar with the blonde Aussie beauty, who has kept herself at the top of the sport, continuously ranking as the leading female rider in the world for the last two years. Rather coincidentally, the very mare that shot Edwina into international stardom was a horse that her rival, Rolf-Goran Bengtsson won dual medals with at the European Championships in with.
The world of show jumping is a small place especially when you know each other as well as Rolf and Edwina do. Her husband and long standing partner, Jan Tops, founded the Tour in , shortly after the pair became an item.
At 38 years old, Edwina has a long list of accomplishments under her belt. Q: You can look back on a quite successful year. Which horses will go there with you? Itot de Chateau, my very best horse, is in the planning to go together with my very good 8 years old Erenice Horta. She is a real star. Q: What is your opinion of the successes this year so far?
Was it a good year for you? This year Itot de Chateau alone has won almost 1 million Euros and is till this date the highest earning horse in the world this year. The year is still young so ask me at the end of the year again if it was a good yearβ¦. Q: How do you look back at the Olympics? Are you satisfied with your result there 20 th place?
