What to expect during a massage session For your first appointment you should allow minutes before your scheduled time to fill out a health history form, establish your goals for the session and ask any questions that you may have. You will be asked to undress to your level of comfort, in private and drape yourself with a sheet and blanket on the massage table.
Proper draping will be used at all times, undraping only that part of your body being massaged. Your experience should be comfortable. Please communicate any discomforts or distractions to the therapist. There may be times when massage is not appropriate for you.
Please give the therapist accurate medical information to obtain maximum and safe results. We require a hour notice of cancellation. If this is not done the client is expected to pay for the full session. Schooling included: Swedish, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, Jin Shin Jyutsu energy work , aromatherapy and yoga.
I have worked with special needs clients; traveling to see these clients in their homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities and memory care facilities when individuals are not able to get transportation to my office with an additional charge for the travel time and mileage. I have worked around feeding tubes, ventilators, tracheotomies, colostomies and a variety of medical equipment. I perform massages with clients on massage tables, hospital beds, recliners and wheel chairs.
Clients can be fully clothed to receive massage in hopes of decreasing the stress involved for clients who have a hard time dressing and undressing.
