Hi everyone, we have been concerned about our wedding plans in relation to the coronavirus pandemic and problems that have come with it, and have been seriously discussing our options.
As a result, with the help of our priest and more expert advice, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the larger wedding and reception that we had planned on June 27th.
We will still be getting married, but it will be a small ceremony with just our immediate family and the necessary witnesses, held in July. This has not been an easy decision to make, and we are so sorry to those who have already made plans to travel up here in June. We hope to be able to reschedule a beautiful reception when we know more about the risks concerning travel and large groups. We are both so thankful for everyone who has been excited for our wedding, and we hope we are able to celebrate our marriage with as many of our loved ones as possible when safety can be better ensured.
I was home for Thanksgiving and visiting with my dear friend Bethany. I had dated a few people in person, and eventually tried online dating just to see what was out there. It did not go well for me, and I was at a point where I decided just to wait and be content with whatever life brought me. That Thanksgiving weekend, Bethany and I decided to download Tinder, a popular and somewhat sketchy dating app, just to mess around and joke with each other about weird guys on there.
In the midst of our fun, a guy from back in Bismarck popped up, and in his little bio among things that he enjoyed doing and was passionate about, he listed that he was "not looking for a hookup". Needless to say,I swiped right, not thinking anything of it. Two days later, when I was back in Bismarck, I got a message from that guy, his name was Michael. We instantly hit it off and discovered that we shared the same values and faith and interests. We talked for two hours with no gaps in the conversation about how God has worked in our lives - it was the best first date I had ever been on.
