We also have a little leftover flurries this morning. Much of the area will see mostly cloudy skies, but there might be a few periods of some sun. High temperatures today will range from the lower 20s northeast to the lower 30s southwest.
Winds will be brisk out of the north northwest with the strongest winds around the middle of the day at 10 to 20 mph and some gusts up to 30 mph. Lows will dip into the upper 0s and low to mid 10s with the coldest temperatures in the east.
So temperatures for the western half of the area may start to climb a bit after midnight into early tomorrow morning. With the warm front pushing east early Friday, most of the area starts with mostly sunny skies and quickly warms up with a breezy west southwest wind. But already on the heels of the warm front will be another cold front diving southward into our area by the afternoon. This will bring an increase in clouds from north to south during the afternoon.
Temperatures may even drop off a bit over the northern half of the area. Much of the area will see highs in the 40s, including upper 40s over Southwest Nebraska. But up north, highs will be in the mid to upper 30s as the cooler air begins to move south. That chillier air will work southward heading into the weekend. Along with the cooler air, some light snow may fall for Western Nebraska, mainly west of Highway 83 Friday night into early Saturday.
Saturday will be a mostly cloudy day with cooler temperatures. High temperatures will range from the mid 20s northwest to the upper 30s southeast. Sunday will be a bit better with a little more sun. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s. Next week is shaping up to be a mild and mostly quiet week of weather leading into the first weekend of February.
