Whenever the monthly newsletter pops up in my email, I always get a warm fuzzy from the memories we made seven years ago at the Historic Rapids Lodge. Our daughter Annie was born in It wasn't until August that my husband and I got any time alone just to be a husband and wife. We were in full new parent mode and very tired from having a new baby in the house. Our friend was very kind to offer to watch our baby, so we randomly picked Grand Lake to get away and landed at The Historic Rapid Lodge.
It was such a treat to reconnect in a little mountain town, in a super cute lodge that sits next to a creek and walk hand-in-hand everywhere we wanted to go. I felt like I was living in a dream that weekend.
We loved parking the car and not need it until it was time to leave. Now we have two kids and busier than ever. I daydream about going back to the Historic Rapids Lodge and reconnecting again as husband and wife after all these years of parenting. It was so peaceful. Rooms were super clean. The owners are such lovely people with wonderful food and of course, hospitality.
I've never felt more at home when I'm away from home, even though I live in Denver. Beautiful walk down the path to the river, gazebo, etc. I can go on about this place⦠just amazing.

Check it out and stay here, all walking distance to downtown, church, and RMNP! We came up to support small businesses in a safe manner, to keep things open. This family-owned place is cute, has good food, and excellent customer service.
