EAU CLAIRE — A man already serving prison time for his simultaneous conviction for a sixth and seventh OWI faces new charges that could bring decades behind bars after authorities accused him of abusing children in his care. Daniel Tlusty, 41, is serving a 4. He will serve three additional years of extended supervision after his release. But prosecutors have filed four counts of physical abuse of a child with repeated acts causing bodily harm, and two counts of second degree recklessly endangering safety with an enhancement for use of a dangerous weapon.
Those charges were filed Thursday. One of the boys said he was about 7 when the beating happened. Tlusty took him and his brother to the garage and made them lay down. Another incident described in the complaint said Tlusty refused to let a child use the bathroom after bedtime. When the child used a hat as a toilet and Tlusty found out, he took the child to the garage with the hat and forced the child to eat their own feces.
Other, lesser punishments included forcing the children to stand for extended periods of time with their arms held straight out, with pushups required if they relaxed their arms. Initially he said he had not spanked the children after they were out of diapers.
Later in the interview, Tlusty admitted some of the spankings took place in the garage, away from other people.
The complaint also mentions letters sent to the children and their mother between September and November of last year. Investigators described them as largely composed of Biblical material. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined and everyone undergoes discipline then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughter at all.
