In Germany they call it "Dunkelflaute". Nuclear power could also take away some of these dangerous windmills. Killing birds, sometimes burning, sometimes they break, or loose a wing. Not good. Electric propulsion is dependent upon batteries that must be charged somehow. The batteries can only support short range propulsion or there must be huge battery banks. Those huge battery banks get heavy and bulky. Diesel fuel still has way more power per pound than batteries and can be replenished quickly while batteries require many hours in a marina.
