Women living in Grenoble consider the safety level to be moderate, with an overall safety rating of 3. Women living in Grenoble consider the crime rate to be relatively low, with an overall crime rating of 2.
On average 5. Grenoble is generally safe place, but there are some places you should avoid at night and during summer when the city became empty. Especially the park and the south of Grenoble, but also the city center can be unsafe. Grenoble is a pretty safe city if you stay within the center of town, but it can get a bit unsafe when you go in the wrong neibourhoods.
But overall it is still France, and safer than other countries I guess! Grenoble is one of the cities I lived in for a few years of studies. It's not safe everywhere and there is neighbourhoods to avoid like "Saint-Bruno", "Mistral". But, overall, it's a beautiful city. The center is quite safe and there is a lot of bars with student. Its a big student city so most of people you will see are student or family. At night, I would not stay too late or alone, but if you walk or use public transport with someone else, you'll be safe.
Outside Grenoble, in the mountains or cities, you'll be mostly completely safe avoid Echirolles and it's definitely places to visit, it's beautiful. Grenoble is a bigger city so there's a larger variety of people. But as a student I don't feel unsafe walking around and doing things by myself. It's not very safe for women, especially at night. Overall, you can have great experience but you have to be really careful at night and in the parcs all across the city.
Would recommend going on a trip to Grenoble with someone but not alone. Grenoble is beautiful but can be dangerous. You need to know where to go and where not to go. The streets to take and those to not take.
