One tow truck rammed into another near Cicero Avenue and Marquette Road, in a fight between drivers who wanted to be first to respond to a car that had been in an accident. Chicago Police shot and killed a man while responding to a stabbing in the South Austin neighborhood, and the person who was attacked in the stabbing was also critically injured during the shooting.
CBS 2's Tara Molina reports. Police said the suspect was in a stolen car at a car wash when he got out and officers tried to stop him and talk to him.
But police say he ran off, and was hit and killed by a truck. CBS 2's Sabrina Franza reports. Initial reports indicate that someone fleeing police was struck by a vehicle. Kris Habermehl reports from Chopper 2. The shooting appears to have taken place while teens were being dispersed from the group and walking through a nearby parking lot. Expressway shootings are trending down, but that is of no comfort to people who drive on the expressway.
This was the 41st shooting on Cook County expressways this year. Initial reports say two people were involved in a fight inside one of the rooms when the victim, identified as year-old Jose A. Perez of Elmhurst, was shot and killed. The shooting happened in a parking lot near a Ross Dress for Less store. The man was in a lot near a Ross Dress for Less store in the block of South Cicero Avenue when he was shot in the head, police said.
The year-old woman was shot at a gas station at Madison Street and Cicero Avenue. Police said someone from a beige vehicle fired shots at a man and woman traveling southbound on Cicero. The third victim was discovered a short distance away. The person jumped from the overpass onto Cicero Avenue below and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. What's the solution? Residents say they have reported it to police and the alderman, but the problem keeps getting worse.
