The aim of the research is to investigate the impact of Tinder upon scenarios of romantic relations based on the basis of the material obtained by means of autoethnografic method. Realization of this goal predetermined setting the following tasks: to investigate the architecture of the app and to demonstrate how it molds the process of using it; to discuss definitions and to operationalize the concepts of hookup culture pertaining to tinder, thus outlining the place of tinder in the context of hookup culture; to research the socio-cultural background of romantic relationship transformation in the epoch of postmodernity in the context of modern media based on the works of Z.
Bauman and A. Giddens;to review the role of autoethnographic method in humanities research and to justify the choice of it for investigating subject under study; to scrutinize the experience of using the app documented in an autoethnographic diary; to interpret the obtained data. Analysis of the diary with the help of qualitative methodology specifically chosen as appropriate for autoethnografic studies made it possible to depict certain Tinder-associated patterns and themes relevant to the subject of research and to discuss them in the interdisciplinary field comprising sociology, cultural and gender studies.
The performed research revealed that interpersonal relations Tinder-initiated initiatedvia Tinder evolved following diverse scenarios, however, the impact of the fact that Tinder appeared as a product of hookup culture and as a response to its demands was the most pronounced one.
This bachelor thesis may be useful to all those interested in autoethnography, qualitative research methods and Tinder as socio-cultural phenomenon. In this study, the researcher intends to find out how the process of developing interpersonal relationships that are woven virtually but can be maintained to a serious level. Researching a relationship that started from an online meeting on the matchmaking application Tinder , interacted, and then decided to get married.
The purpose of this research is to find out how the process of developing interpersonal relationships that are carried out virtually through a matchmaking app until they both make it to the stage of marriage. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive study using a phenomenological approach that was initiated by Husserl. The results of this study found that there was social penetration or the process of exchanging information carried out by Tinder users with their partners around the layers of their respective personalities in-depth such as peeling the skins of onions layers of an onion during the relationship development process and the process Online dating apps have changed the way people build interpersonal communication, particularly in the way they present and disclose themselves online in order to search for a relationship.
