LaneMasters Hornet in all its 80 hardness, low-flare glory: 45x5. The Hornet just laughed at my puny efforts. Nothing short of a diamond pad will change the surface. All you can really hope is to remove the polish. Six sides of max pressure with a new grit Abralon pad probably has this around grit or so. Still, this ball is my best match on the fresh national shot.
I can play straight up 7 or 8 and the ball just homes in on the pocket. I need to towel the thing off after every shot as it acts more like a urethane than a reactive; no oil absorption whatsoever. Visionary Ogre Pearl: 35x5"x30, polished. This ball was given to me by a bowler who knew I was inquisitive about VBP and didn't like it much for himself. After plugging and redrilling, the Burple surprised me with how well it reads the midlane yet still gets good length and has above average carry in and around the pocket.
This, too, stays in play on the Nationals pattern; stronger than the Hornet but I'm still able to square up 7 and still keep the ball around the pocket. MoRich Loco Motion: 20x4. MoRich Aggressive Motion: 60x3. My 4th ball that plays well on the OC pattern; especially if carrydown becomes an issue. MoRich mania: 25x4"x25, P4 hole, grit surface. This ball creates its own area within a few shots on sport patterns.
Extra Bag: 7. MoRich DestroyR: 50x4"x35, P3 hole, grit surface. This one backs up both the AM and the mania if either becomes damaged 8. MoRich Perpetual Motion: 60x3. This one comes along for the house patterns, frame game and the like. Besides, this one deserves to make the trip to BR as I've rolled two s and three other in-a-row games with it in less than a year.
