Fighting Against Human Trafficking is a multi-disciplinary team made up of experts and surviving victims of human trafficking. The FAHT is committed to restoring the human dignity of victims of human trafficking by defending their rights and helping them to re-establish their broken social ties and achieve complete autonomy. We provide an immediate response to their needs. The Palermo Protocol defines "trafficking in human beings" as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs.
Trafficking in human beings is a crime and a serious violation of human rights. Despite the existence of an international legal framework, millions of children, women and men continue to fall victim to it throughout the world. They are trafficked within a country or internationally for the purposes of sexual exploitation, forced labour and prostitution, labour exploitation in companies or private homes, exploitation for begging, forced marriage and organ removal.
Children are not spared from this phenomenon. Trafficked children are forcibly married, illegally adopted, forced to work on building sites and in factories, forced to beg or to commit offences such as theft and drug trafficking. Some are even used by cyber criminals for child pornography. Human trafficking exists in Switzerland, but most of the victims are immigrants. While for their own protection, some victims of trafficking dare to speak out by seeking asylum protection, others, either voluntarily or sometimes under duress, opt for silence and clandestinity for fear of reprisals.
Very often in vulnerable situations of all kinds in their country of origin poverty, migratory route, excessive ambition, illiteracy, armed conflict, minority, gender, etc. It is with this in mind that Fighting Against Human Traficking FAHT is committed to defending the rights of victims of the violence associated with human trafficking.
Our aim is also to fight against the sexual and commercial exploitation of children: We track down, detect, shelter and assist victims of human trafficking by developing any social, legal and administrative action relating to the issue.
