Rondel K. Jamison, 23, of Antioch, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated domestic battery and felon in possession of a firearm. The man and woman told officers they had been driving to Advocate Condell Medical Center when they were involved in the crash. The victim, who is in his mids, told officers that Jamison had shot him at their residence, Mandujano said.
The hospital confirmed the victim had been shot in the elbow and left hip, with the bullet being lodged in his hip. Antioch police responded around a. Jamison exited the residence, located at Donin Drive in Antioch, and was placed into custody. They spotted a gun on the floor and obtained a search warrant which revealed the gun was a Glock G44 handgun. Jamison admitted to the police that he and the victim got into a physical fight over a salad, Mandujano said.
Mandujano said the fight lasted several minutes and the victim fled from the residence without his shoes. Mandujano said Jamison is a convicted felon and does not have a Firearm Owners Identification card or concealed carry license. He recently pleaded guilty in July to a gun possession case in Mundelein and was placed on probation, court records show. The most serious charge against Jamison, aggravated battery with a firearm, is a Class X felony that carries six to 30 years in prison.
The Antioch Community High School administration said they became aware of the situation shortly before the end of the fourth period Wednesday morning, prompting the fifth-period open campus lunch to be closed.
