Unless applicants meet one of the test exemptions, the Reinforced Instruction for Student Excellence RISE test is required to evaluate any areas in which you need refresher help. The exams are grouped into specialties such as automobiles, medium and heavy truck, truck equipment, school bus, collision repair and more.
Many employers require ASE certifications. The test is offered in a computer-based format. The Pearson VUE authorized test center provides on-site testing certification and professional licensure exams. The placement can take approximately two to three hours and is available Monday β Friday. Tier One: whole numbers; fractions and mixed numbers; decimals; ratio, proportion and rates; percent; measurement, geometry and real numbers. Tier Two: solving equations and inequalities; graphing; exponents and polynomials; concepts in statistics.
Tier Three: rational expressions; radical expressions and quadratic equations; factoring; systems of equations and inequalities; and functions. It is not a pass or fail test but it is important to do your best. RISE scores are valid for ten years from test date. FTCC is not responsible for the content published on these websites. Students who have graduated from high school within 10 years and have an unweighted GPA. The computer chosen for RISE must have internet access, be located in a suitable testing environment, and meet the requirements for administering proctored tests.
Remote testing is only for students who plan to attend FTCC. Any fee incurred with remote testing will be the responsibility of the student. Students can retest once per tier within ten years. A minimum score of 70 is required to progress to the next tier of the RISE placement.
