The Berridale man pleaded guilty in the Hobart Magistrates Court to charges relating to stalking, trespass, injury to property and breaches to an interim restraint order. The court heard the man began stalking his former partner, who is also the mother of a two-year-old son, in April this year when she ended their six-month relationship.
The court heard the year-old "immediately" began sending abusive, threatening messages, calling her "a slut, a whore and a liar". It heard the woman received messages from 80 men inquiring about sex services after he used her photo and contact details to take out an advertisement with websites offering adult sex services. The man also sent the woman bank transfers of 1 cent each to send her threatening and abusive messages via the payment description.
When police arrived, he told them he intended to "shit on her door". He called the woman multiple times from private numbers, posted explicit photos of her on various social media platforms with her name, address and contact details and told child protection services she was a "bad mother".
The court heard he breached an interim restraint order a total of 27 times and had initially pleaded not guilty to all charges after later changing his plea. A victim impact statement revealed the woman felt "mentally tortured" and was living in "a constant state of fear" as to what he might do to her, her mother and her two-year-old son.
