By James Bacon: The impact of David Lynch has been significant, and it was sad to hear that he had passed away. Of his so many works, I think that Dune and Twin Peaks were not only brilliant but significant to me. I found it brilliant. It was fantastic to watch it all in one go too, and I binged this series, and was able to discuss it in depth and come to appreciate it.
The programme contained so many wonderful elements, perhaps some of my favourite aspects were the music, especially for Audrey Horne played by Sherilyn Fenn, who I thought was amazing, who had her own piece crafted by the soundtrack composer Angelo Badalamenti. The positive relationship between Sheriff Harry S.
The number of incredible concepts, weirdnesses and the somehow tangible otherness that permeated the series made one think, or laugh, or catch breath.
There was so much in Twin Peaks , that when a group of us, Hazel and Robert Newman, Stefan Lancaster and myself decided to run a Twin Peaks convention called Damn Fine Con southwest of London in , drawing the programme together was huge fun and finding ideas, or themes to draw on, easy. So too many ideas, and those that we utilised seemed to go well. As soon as I knew that there would be a Worldcon in Spokane, I was excited, I had opted not to get involved, despite Bobbi Du Fault asking me at Texas, I had to decline, I knew I would be too busy with London and Dublin, but it was a nice conversation to have, I just knew I had a lot to do a lot in Seattle.
Visiting the real Twin Peaks was a key aspect to the trip, many things fell well, first there was a Corflu planned the weekend beforehand, in Renton, the Corflu team did an amazing job at negotiating with the Red Lion Hotel, and Suzle arranged for my request to extend my stay considerably, and it was amazing value. The hotel had a shuttle, and would take me back to SeaTac to hire a car. The TV series reached so many people, as we found when we gathered at our con, but it also gave an incredible sense of place.
